Attending a MindSense Assessment
Why You’ve Been Referred
You have been referred for an independent psychiatric assessment conducted by one of our highly experienced consultants. These assessments provide clear, objective evaluations to assist with legal matters, or other processes.
The purpose of the assessment is not to provide treatment, but to give independent guidance regarding your condition based on a professional evaluation.
What to Expect
Duration
Appointments usually take between 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Assessment Options
Assessments can be conducted in person, via telehealth, or through a correctional centre audio-visual link (CC AVL).
Preparation
The consultant will ask questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of your history, condition, and current circumstances.
You are welcome to bring a support person to your appointment if you feel it would be helpful. Their presence can provide comfort; however, please ensure they do not interfere with the consultation.
Substance Use
It is essential that you are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the assessment, as this may prevent it from being completed.
